Aim of the association :
FARANFARE means beautiful in Soninke, a language from the Kayes region in Mali. The charity Faranfare wants to help agriculture in this region in collaboration with the people of Seke in order to create jobs. The fruit and vegetables we'll create will be sold in the local market of Kayes. With the profits from the sale, we are going to pay the people who work with the charity in the field. Our director in Kayes is Mr Diarra who has much experience in agriculture and is a hard working man, reliable and honest. Mr Diarra is also our consultant for our new project, he knows the region and the soil well, as well as knowing the people in Seke. Mali is among the poorest countries in the world, with 65% of its land area desert or semidesert. Economic activity is largely confined to the riverine area irrigated by the Niger. About 10% of the population is nomadic and some 70% of the labor force is engaged in farming and fishing. Industrial activity is concentrated on processing farm commodities. Mali is heavily dependent on foreign aid and vulnerable to fluctuations in world prices for cotton, its main export. By working directly with the local people we are able to positively effect the economic development in the most needy areas.
