Final piano work (dedicated to Dinu Lipatti), it preceded the emotionaly powerful Symphony no 7,op.68 "Israel", with chorus. Gaby Casadesus particularly loved this impromtu and gave the posthumous first performance at one of the Cleveland competitions. The language has become even more refined, murmured, lightly touched; it becomes more animated before disappearing as if on tiptoe. Here one discovers 'refined harmonies with changing glints' as Jean Roy stated, and one cannot help but think of Maurice ravel's fine piece of advice to pianists:' Work on the sikiness of your sounds'.
